VBS Camp: Praying All the Time

June 25th -29th from 9am to noon.

For older 3 year olds to those who have completed 5th grade.

This year our VBS program will use classic children’s picture books as a springboard for reflection and conversation for children to explore types of prayer. We believe that children pray through song, dance, action, as well as quiet thought. Our program will help children to explore different methods of prayer and instill a sense that their spirituality is taken seriously even if the rituals themselves include elements of play and silliness. The high quality writing in the chosen books serve as a fun entry point to encounter and explore spiritual messages. Many of these books you may have at home and you will be encouraged to read them with your child and explore the richness with them. Each day children gather for song, story, exploration, activities, crafts, recreation, and snacks. A daily riddle will be given form them to solve.

Our daily themes and books include:

  • Day 1: Music prayers using The Song of Francis, by Tomie dePaola
  • Day 2: Prayers with feelings using The Very Hungry Caterpillar, by Eric Carle
  • Day 3: Prayers said in a group using The Red Ribbon, by John Lasne
  • Day 4: Hearing God in the silence using Old Turtle, by Douglas Wood
  • Day 5: Asking and receiving forgiveness using The Legend of the Bluebonnet, by Tomie dePaola

Click here to register or pick up a form from the children’s table in the church. Middle and High School youth are invited to apply as Jr. Counselors. Adult help is also welcome. Please contact Connie Saeger at clsaeger@stannes-annapolis.org or 410-267-9333 ext 211.
