Christianity – The Basics

An Introduction to the Basic Themes, Problems, and Personalities of the Christian Faith

This course is for adults who want to know more about the major ideas of Christian faith. You may wish to attend as part of a Lenten discipline of learning more about Christian faith and theology, or attend the entire 10 weeks. For those who participate from St. Anne’s, the course will serve as Part 1 of our adult inquirers’ class for people considering being confirmed or received into the Episcopal Church when Bishop Sutton comes to St. Anne’s for confirmation in February 2011 (Part 2 will be a four week series about Episcopal history, worship, and polity).

Led by the Rev. Dr. Amy E Richter, PhD, Rector, St. Anne’s Episcopal Parish, Annapolis and the Rev. Dr. Joseph S. Pagano, PhD, Rector, Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Baltimore. The class will meet on 10 Wednesdays in Lent and Easter 2010:

  • February 24 - Faith
  • March 3 - God
  • March 10 - Creation
  • March 17 - The Problem of Evil
  • March 24 - Jesus – Life and Message
  • April 7 - Jesus – Salvation, Eternal Life, and Christology
  • April 21 - Church
  • April 28 - Revelation and World Religions
  • May 5 - Worship and Prayer
  • May 12 - Ethics

The course is offered at two times and in two locations:
  • An afternoon session, from 1-2:30 pm at the Diocesan Center 4 E University Parkway, Baltimore, MD (800) 443-1399 and
  • An evening session, from 7–8:30 pm at St Anne’s Parish House 199 Duke of Gloucester St, Annapolis MD (410) 267-9993.

The same topics will be addressed at both sessions each Wednesday.
