Environmental Ministry

"The mission of the Environmental ministry is to "green" the Church and Parish House, provide environmental education to St. Anne's Parishioners, and to help restore the Chesapeake Bay."

Work Continues!

Since developing as a ministry in September 2006, the Environmental Ministry has initiated several changes at St. Anne's, and sponsored a few events. Among our accomplishments are:

Recycling!
Converted 90% of the Parish House and Bell Tower to Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs.
Hosted a Fair Trade coffee tasting. The church now serves Fair Trade coffee at Fellowship.
Organized Earth Day events in 2007 and 2008 which included educating parishioners and hosting speakers from the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
Offered regular environmental "tips" to parishioners through the Bulletin and Tieline.
Provided CFL and battery recycling.
Researched the feasibility of solar panels, rain gardens and rain barrels... some of these items are still on our wish list for future goals
