Men's Huddle

Things You Might Want to Know About the Men’s Huddle

Ours is St. Anne’s longest running lay ministry (Lent, 1994-previously called the Men’s Fellowship and Bible Study Ministry), dedicated to studying the Bible and the work of a variety of Christian theologians Saturdays throughout the year. We meet in the Parish House (199 Duke of Gloucester St.) at 8am for breakfast and an hour of study, wrapping up by 9:45am.

Lots of knowledge of the Bible is not in any way a prerequisite. Encouraged is an open mind and heart, and a suspicion that paying closer attention to how scripture can model your life will put you in a better place.

Our members range in age from their early 40s to over 90 years old.

Members receive weekly emails that always include the scripture or author reading assigned for the coming Saturday morning, a useful way to keep up when not able to attend every meeting. At about the first of the new month, our updated prayer list is attached. Also attached on an occasional basis are topical articles of interest.

Ours is one of the better $3 breakfasts available in the area on Saturday mornings.

On the first Wednesday every other month we provide and serve supper at The Lighthouse Shelter, a tradition that was started some five years ago by parishioner and Men’s Bible Study member Duncan Kennedy who left us this ongoing act of servanthood as a part of his legacy to our ministry.

We are currently studying Mark's Gospel. As an aid to our work, we are using Bishop Tom Wright's book Mark for Everyone. As we occasionally interrupt ourselves to consider something topical such as Pastor Rick Warren's Inaugral prayer, we'll be working with Saint Mark for some time.

The member men welcome you men of St. Anne’s to huddle up with us one Saturday morning to see and hear what we do. Or, call for further information.
