Kari Shea
Church Circle Consort Director

Kari Krueger Shea is the director of Church Circle Consort, an instrumental ensemble, at St. Anne’s Parish. Dr. Shea teaches at Anne Arundel Community College and is Principle Bassoon for the Mid-Atlantic Symphony. She also plays bassoon and contra bassoon for the Annapolis Symphony, the National Philharmonic, the Salisbury Symphony, and is a member of Quintaero Woodwind Quintet. Dr. Shea received her Bachelors in Music Education from the University of Southern Mississippi, her Masters in Bassoon Performance from SUNY at Stony Brook and her Doctorate in Bassoon Performance from the University of Illinois. In 2006, she received the Individual Artist Award for Solo Performance from the Maryland State Arts Council. Dr. Shea has taught Chamber Music at the University of Illinois and Millikin University and has been an adjudicator for Solo and Ensemble Festival for Anne Arundel County and the State of Maryland. With her own chamber ensembles, she has performed at the Clarinet Association ClarinetFest and the International Double reed Society Conference. Before moving to Maryland, Dr. Shea performed with the Forest Philharmonic in London, England, the Illinois Symphony Orchestra, the Millikin-Decatur Symphony Orchestra, the Meridian Symphony Orchestra, the Mississippi Symphony, and the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra and on chamber concert series in France, Sweden and Nova Scotia.
