New Pastoral Associate Search

To Our Brothers and Sisters in Christ at St. Anne’s:

As we all learned in March, our Associate Rector, Gid Montjoy, will be leaving us in the fall. We thank him, first, for leading us through the last difficult months of our transition and, then, for being a source of support to Amy Richter as she has assumed her role as our Rector. We pray that God’s blessings will always be with Gid and Cindy.

With Gid’s imminent departure, Amy was faced with selecting a new associate to help her lead St. Anne’s. The Episcopal Church’s canons give rectors full authority and responsibility to choose an associate. Thus, the canons acknowledge that rectors must have someone they can trust implicitly; someone with whom they can work in harmony to effectively serve as the spiritual leaders of their congregations. They, and their congregations, deserve no less.

Although Amy was not obligated to seek the advice or approval of the vestry or congregation, she chose to ask our Senior Warden to appoint the undersigned to serve on an Associate’s Committee. We are a “sounding board” for Amy, helping her understand all facets of St. Anne’s needs, and helping validate her own thought process. She has asked for our opinions, based on our knowledge and experience of St. Anne’s parish, of her ideas about St. Anne’s next Associate priest. We are holding discussions with Amy, discussing how to make this transition as successful as possible, and praying for her as she goes through this process.

It is Amy’s intention not to make this a lengthy or expensive process, which we fully support. We hope to be able to announce the new associate soon!

Faithfully in the love of Jesus Christ,
