The Sycamore Tree

The Sycamore Tree

The Sycamore Tree (Children’s Liturgy) is a way to help children learn the Holy Rhythm of Worship. Named after the tree Zacchaeus climbed to get a better view of Jesus (Luke 19:1-10), The Sycamore Tree offers children a time to come closer to Jesus in ways they can understand and embrace. The Sycamore Tree compliments Children’s Sunday Discovery and makes the “Liturgy of the Word” (the first half of the service) at the 9:30 a.m. Holy Eucharist service accessible to young children. Children should arrive at church and remain seated with their parents until the “Collect of the Day” (opening prayer) has ended. At that time one of the acolytes will lead the children to the Sycamore Tree worship space in the room off to the right of the church narthex. Children who attend the Sycamore Tree will experience of worship, with age appropriate music, a scripture reading, lesson, and prayers. During the passing of the Peace, children are brought back to their parents for the Eucharist.
