Youth Leadership Core
Youth Leadership Core
Young people are encouraged to participate in Sunday Mornings for Youth, First Sunday Youth Night, special events and/or serve on a team in the Youth Leadership Core. Serving on a team can build leadership skills, support participation in parish life, make a contribution to make a difference, and encourage a deeper relationship with each other and God. Young people may serve in the following ways.
- Acolytes: Young people may train to acolyte at the 9:30 or 11:15 a.m. services. Acolytes assist during the liturgies and serve as crucifers and torch bearers.
- Chalice Bearers: Young people who have been confirmed may service as chalice bearers at any of the three services. Training is required and they serve as scheduled on the monthly Rota.
- Children’s Sunday Discovery: Young people in middle and high school can be trained as assistants or teachers for Sunday mornings with younger children during Children’s Sunday Discovery. As a member of the Children’s Sunday Discovery team, young people work with adult teachers and children in Children’s Sunday Discovery.
- Design Teams for Youth Ministry: Design teams plan youth ministry events. As a member of a design team, young people have a significant role in making decisions and being a leader for their peers.
- Fellowship Teams: Each Sunday a team of volunteers prepares refreshments for the congregation. Young people are invited to serve on a fellowship team.
