Handel's Messiah

Celebrate the season with St. Anne’s and Live Arts Maryland as we present our beloved tradition: Part I of Handel’s Messiah. This powerful work immerses us in the Word—from prophecy to the Nativity—proclaiming the message of hope and joy through song. We cherish returning to this masterpiece each year, bearing witness to its timeless promise.

J. Ernest Green, Artistic Director for Live Arts Maryland and Music Director for St. Anne’s, conducts members of the Annapolis Chorale, the Annapolis Chamber Orchestra, and St. Anne’s Choir with featured operatic and concert soloists.

Guest soloists:

Amy Cofield - soprano: Praised by the New York Times for her "lovely, rich tone," Ms. Cofield has performed to critical acclaim across the U.S. and in Italy, France, Croatia, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, Austria, England, Santo Domingo, Guam, Taiwan and Japan. Kathryn Leemhuis - mezzo soprano: One of her most notable roles is Dorabella in Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte, for which Kathryn has been hailed as “ravishing,” adding that “her sheer vocal beauty allied to nimbleness and an astonishing range of dynamic and coloristic nuance,” (Dallas Morning News). Joesph Regan - tenor: Mr. Regan is frequently engaged as a tenor soloist. He is particularly well known for his singing of Bach and Handel with numerous performances of Handel’s Messiah as well as Bach’s Passions and Cantatas to his credit. David Murray - baritone: Praised for his interpretation of the Verdian roles, notably Giorgio Germont in La Traviata, Renato in Un ballo in maschera, the title role in Rigoletto and Carlo in La forza del destino, as well the Italian Bel Canto and Verismo composers, he has also received critical acclaim for his performances of Mozart’s characters, especially Il Conte Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro.
