Children & Family Programs

at St. Anne’s

What’s a soul? Who was Jesus?

How do I pray?

How amazing are the questions our children have? While no one has all the answers, our community encourages family discussions with spiritual depth.

We believe God loves everyone, no exceptions, and nurture core values like compassion, community, equality & authenticity, using fun, meaningful ministry, parable, art & music. Explore our children & youth programs below.

Music and Movement

During the 10 am liturgy, all children under ten years old are invited to the Choir Room for Music and Movement. After the opening prayers, children will be invited to follow the cross to the Choir Room, where teachers will lead the children in music-making and a lesson about the Gospel. Children return to their families in time for communion.

Parents, you are welcome to join your children or stay in the pews. All noise from children that come from our pews is pleasing to God, so please do whatever you feel is best for you and your household.

Sunday School takes place during the formation hour (11:30 - 12:30), following the 10 a.m. service. Sunday School classrooms are in the Parish House on 199 Duke of Gloucester Street. Adults are invited to join the Adult Forum in the Parish Hall.

Introducing DWELL.

“God’s story is exciting—and it’s ongoing!

DWELL invites kids to live into God’s story of creation, fall, redemption, and restoration. And it encourages kids to live out of God’s story every day as they respond to God’s call.

Each DWELL session provides fun, interactive ways for leaders and kids to learn and explore as together they find their place in God’s Big Story.”

Youth Group

(Grades 5-12)

St. Anne’s Youth Group will DWELL on God’s story through activities, games, discussion, snacks and bible deep dives.

Join us weekly on Sundays, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Church Circle. Friends are always welcome.

We encourage our youth to live out their faith in God any and everywhere. DWELL invites them “to find their place in God’s story, living into and out of it for the rest of their lives”. We will do this using interactive games, reflective wondering, dramatic storytelling, with solid pedagogy that is age appropriate.

Children’s Communion Class

St. Anne’s offers an annual  Holy Communion class  for children in 1-3rd grade. The three-session class will be led by clergy and culminate with a  Communion Celebration at the 10 a.m. service on Sunday, October 18th.  The Communion class is a sacred and engaging space designed for children to explore their faith and to ask their questions about God and the Church.

In the Episcopal Church, everyone who has been baptized are invited to receive Holy Communion, and the decision about when the child receives the sacrament is up to the child(ren)’s parents. Accordingly, St. Anne’s does not consider this a ‘first communion class’, although it may be that for some children.

The 2026 class will take place on Sundays 9/27, 10/4, and 10/11 from 11:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m. We ask that children attend all three class sessions to experience the fullest joy of the Sacrament.

A festive Communion Celebration will take place during the 10 a.m. liturgy on Sunday, October 18th. Friends and family are encouraged to attend this joyful celebration!
