Summer Organ Series

The Freiburger Organ is turning 50!

Our magnificent Freiburger organ was installed in the autumn of 1975. Built after historic design principles, its versatile tonal palette makes it a perfect example of the “living tradition” of St. Anne’s. To celebrate, we are offering extended closing voluntaries of 10-15 minutes after the 10 AM service on Sundays during July and August. The programs will be wide ranging in order to show off the wonderful colors of the instrument, featuring music from England, France, Germany, Italy and the United States written across four centuries. There will be a concerto for chamber organ, jazz hymn improvisations, a full symphony written for solo organ and, of course, a few works by J.S. Bach.

Feel free to grab a refreshment and listen from down below or up in the loft for as much as you wish.

July 27: St. Anne’s Day: Prelude and Fugue in E-flat, BWV 552 – J.S. Bach

August 3: Suite Gothique, Op. 25 (selections) – L. Boëllmann Nicholas Basehore, organist

August 10 : Guest artist Carolene Winter

August 17: “Christmas in July” – Pastorales and Noëls from 18th century Italy, Spain and France

August 24: The Weaver’s Tale – works by American organist John Weaver

August 31: Grande Pièce Symphonique, Op. 17 – C. Franck
