Reflections on St. Anne’s Centering Prayer Ministry
Arriving at St. Anne’s red front door in 2000, I was seeking a community of faith, love and prayer. Centering prayer, a simple silent meditative Christian practice, had already become an important practice in my life, and I was wishing for a support group in Annapolis. God answered my prayer and prepared the way for me to be trained as a Centering Prayer group facilitator and offer an Introduction Retreat. Soon St. Anne’s Centering Prayer group was born with 8-10 people! That was 25 years ago in the Skylight Room of the Parish House.
My experience over the last 25 years has brought me closer to God, deepened my faith and has brought many wonderful, faith-filled people into my life, some lifelong friends. I sincerely doubt that I had many gifts and talents to share with our group for 25 years, but if I did, they are only due to God’s grace. Giving of my time and talent has been a gift, not a sacrifice. St. Anne’s, thank you for giving me the opportunity to love and serve God and God’s beloved children through our Centering Prayer Ministry.
Foot note: Due to the increased cost of parking around St. Anne’s Parish House, our Centering Prayer group now meets the first 4 Tuesdays at 10 a.m. at St. Philips Episcopal Church, which has free easy parking!
