Nov 2 All Souls’ Vespers and Dedication Ceremony

Dedication

The Truth and Reconciliation Ministry invites you to gather for an All Souls’ Vespers and Dedication Ceremony on November 2, 2025 at 5:30 p.m. We will start the service in the narthex to dedicate a plaque commemorating all souls, known and unknown, who have been part of St. Anne’s long history. We acknowledge that complicated history as part of the social and economic order of Maryland once built on the cash crop of tobacco and the institution of chattel slavery, and by upholding in God’s love our longstanding relationships with St. Philip’s and St. Luke’s.  We will look to the future by dedicating ourselves to seeing the face of God in each other, and all others, as partners with St. Luke’s and St. Philip’s, to do God’s work as part of the Episcopal Church in the heart of Annapolis. Our guest preacher for this service will be The Rev. Randy Callender, Canon for Mission of the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland. In preparation for this service, the Truth and Reconciliation Ministry will facilitate a conversation at the Adult Forum on October 26 about “Go Forth in Peace and Love” to discuss ways that we can continue to build relationships with our partner Episcopal parishes and with our wider Annapolis community.

All Souls’ Vespers

Join us for a deeply moving All Souls' Vespers service under the music direction of J. Ernest Green, featuring the St. Anne’s Choir in a special presentation of selected movements from Karl Jenkins’ “Requiem.” These hauntingly beautiful pieces will be woven into the liturgy, creating a rich tapestry of remembrance and hope.

Sir Karl Jenkins is a Welsh composer and musician, widely recognized for his work in both classical and popular music genres. His composition “Adiemus” is perhaps his most famous work after the “Requiem” we are offering at this service. His music blends classical, popular and world music elements.

The service will also feature a solo flute performance by Martha Molinaro, adding a contemplative voice to this sacred evening.
