Independence Day Matins (1662 Book of Common Prayer)

Join us on Independence Day, July 4, 2026, at 10 a.m., for Matins according to the 1662 Book of Common Prayer, which was the prayer book used by St. Anne’s Parish in the years surrounding the American Revolution. On this 250th Anniversary of the declaration of our independence from England, this service offers a rare opportunity to experience the worship that shaped the spiritual lives of Annapolis residents in 1776, with its timeless prayers, classic language, and deep roots in the Anglican tradition.

As we give thanks for the blessings and responsibilities of liberty, we will gather in our historic church where generations before us prayed during the birth of our nation. Through Scripture, prayer, and thanksgiving, we remember that true freedom is ultimately grounded in our dependence upon God and our commitment to the common good. All are welcome to this historic and reflective observance of Independence Day.
