A New First Sunday Offering
This fall, St. Anne's invites parishioners and neighbors to gather on First Sundays for a special time of music and prayer.
First Sunday Music: Bach+ and Prayer at St. Anne’s combines a brief service from the Book of Common Prayer with the beauty of Bach cantatas performed by guest artists and members of the Bach+ Ensemble. This free, 30-minute offering is an opportunity to pause, reflect, and be renewed through music that lifts the heart and draws us closer to God and one another.
Sunday, October 4 | 12:30 p.m.
Bach Cantata No. 51, Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen ("Praise God in Every Land")
Experience Bach’s joyful and timeless cantata, a vibrant work celebrating praise, gratitude, and the beauty of music.
Performed from the chancel of Historic St. Anne's, this joyful work will feature:
Susan Rider, trumpet
Amy Cofield, soprano
Larry Molinaro, Bach+ Ensemble
J. Ernest Green, Bach+ Ensemble
A Message of Joy and Peace
Reflecting on this cantata, soprano Maria Keohane spoke of its enduring message:
We rejoice together "in all lands." We share the same longing for peace and the same joy of being together on this earth.
If we could act from the bottom of our hearts rather than from striving, longing, or greed, we would be happier and could make others happier as well.
Her words beautifully capture the spirit of this music and the invitation it offers to all who listen.
A Call to Welcome
God gives us the gift of music to lift our hearts and draw us closer to Him and to one another.
We invite St. Anne’s parishioners to experience this new offering on First Sundays. As members of the wider community join us, we also have an opportunity to extend the gift of welcome to those entering our church for the first time.
Together, we can share music, prayer, and fellowship with all who come through our doors.
