Advocating brings our Christian Values into Decisions Made at the State Legislature
Hello St Anne's Friends,
St. Anne’s members can play a crucial role in bringing Christian values to the attention of Maryland Legislators as they make decisions about 2026 bills that affect housing, the environment, health, and education, especially as Marylanders are struggling with the rising costs for basic needs.
Much can be done sitting at home and advocating by writing testimony to support the needs of our friends and neighbors.
The home site of the Maryland General Assembly is https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/. If you look up in the right-hand corner of any page, you will see several sites. One is "MyMGA". This is where you can sign up for an account, which lets you track bills, sign up to write testimony or present oral testimony. It's very easy. Click on this link, put in your email, create a password, and you're off and running.
To start tracking a bill, go to either the Senate or House under legislation. Find a bill that you're interested in. Click on that and explore. If you want to follow that bill, click on the pin above the Bill number on the left of the Bill name. You can create your own folders (i.e., Education or Health). If you click on notifications, you will get an email each morning on the status of the bills you've chosen. View the tracking list for Health as an example.
