We invite you to the Garden of Repose and Overnight Vigil that begins following the Maundy Thursday service on Thursday, April 2, at 8:30 p.m., and continues through Good Friday, April 3, at 7 a.m. We do many things together during Holy Week, but these hours sent watching with Jesus during this vigil is a quiet, private, and still time. Take your own burdens there and pray with God.
"Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.” - Matthew 26:36
Will you watch with Jesus? Spend some time in thoughtful prayer through the night at St. Anne’s Overnight Vigil at the Holy Family Chapel Altar of Repose following the Maundy Thursday service on April 2. Our Maundy Thursday observance doesn’t end with the service … it continues throughout the night into Good Friday morning. For these powerful hours, we are invited to watch and wait with our Lord through his painful struggle and then stand with Him outside the gates of Pontius Pilate's palace, again watching and waiting. In this quiet time, reflect on Jesus’ path, feel his lonely struggle to accept the will of God, the danger he faced and the terrifying events of his ultimate act of love and redemption.
For these hours, St. Anne’s Holy Family Chapel serves as the Altar of Repose, where we are the disciples watching with our Lord through the night. For your safety, on-site security will be present all night.
Details, hours and how to sign up for the vigil are here. Please sign up in advance so our security guard will have an idea of who will be coming in throughout the night.
