Message to Maryland Legislators in Districts 30A, 31, 32, 33A, 33C, 12B, and 21

St. Anne’s food missions were praised during Maryland General Assembly testimony in support of HB903/SB935: Income Subtraction of Donations to Food Bank and Other Charitable Entities. This bill will allow individuals to get a MD income tax charitable contribution deduction for money donated to food banks and other non-profit organizations that provide food at no cost to individuals in need. Why is this charitable food deduction needed now? 2.4 million veterans, homeless people, and other vulnerable American will see their SNAP benefits cut or eliminated beginning June 2026. Legislators in Anne Arundel County anticipate increased demand for food aid and want to give church members another tool for helping our in-need neighbors receive food. You can show support for HB903 by contacting our local Delegates and Senators (Districts 30A, 31, 32, 33A, 33C, 12B, and 21) who sponsored this tax bill to increase food donations.
