MEPPN Message on Supporting Free Food Organizations or Maryland Food Bank this Easter

The Maryland Food Bank and many faith organizations are calling for help as our neighbors face increasing food insecurity through 2026. In spite of the generosity of our congregations, veterans, homeless people, individuals with disabilities, and our refugee neighbors face future hunger. Federal SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance) benefits are being cut for roughly 8 million Marylanders and many are relying on homeless shelters to provide meals (https://conduitstreet.mdcounties.org/2025/12/30/2026-issue-preview-current-issues-in-public-benefits-programs/). The Maryland Episcopal Public Policy Network (MEPPN) has heard heart-breaking testimony in the Maryland General Assembly about the need for food assistance. In the spirit of Easter week, please give additional donations to the free food organizations you support or donate to the Maryland Food Bank at https://mdfoodbank.org/donate/.

Please consider contacting your Maryland legislators to support child care funding for young children.
