Music Notes: Summer Choir & 50th Organ Anniversary

From June 22nd through Labor Day weekend, we will feature our Summer "Family" Choir.  Whether you're interested to sing with the choir during the year or just for a few Sundays over the summer months, we invite you to join us.  No requirements other than to come to our brief rehearsal at 9:15 AM in the choir room (just to the left of the main entrance of the church) on the Sunday you want to sing.  It's casual and fun.  No auditions (or vesting!) required.

Our magnificent Freiburger organ was installed in the autumn of 1975.  To celebrate its “big birthday” this year, we offer extended closing voluntaries of 10-15 minutes after the 10 AM service during July and August.  The programs will be wide ranging in order to show off the wonderful colors of the instrument, featuring music from England, France, Germany, Italy and the United States written across four centuries.  There will be a concerto for chamber organ, jazz hymn improvisations, a full symphony written for solo organ and, of course, a few works by J.S. Bach.  Feel free to grab a refreshment and listen from down below or up in the loft for as much as you wish.
