Shrove Tuesday at St. Anne's
5:15 p.m.-Burning of Burdens in the Parish Parking Lot
On Shrove Tuesday at 5:15 pm, we will gather outside the Parish Hall to reflect on the meaning of a holy Lent by “self-examination and repentance; by prayer, fasting, and self-denial; and by reading and meditating on God’s holy Word” (BCP, 265). In scripture, God’s call to repentance is always relational – it reflects a mutual desire for relationship between God and us. In the book of Zechariah, the prophet declares "Return to me... and I will return to you," (Zec 1:3) a reminder that repentance is a relational reconnection with God. Before the pancake supper, write something that is weighing you down; it can be anything that is keeping you away from God. At 5:15, we will all release our burdens to God by placing these pieces of paper into a fire.
5:30 p.m.- Pancake Supper in the Parish hall. Please sign-up to assist us with cooking or and a “love offering” going to the Guatemala Mission will be collected. Sign up below
