St. John Passion - Good Friday, April 3 at 7 pm

Live Arts Maryland Presents Bach’s St. John Passion on Good Friday at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church on April 3

Annapolis, MD — Live Arts Maryland continues its annual Good Friday tradition of performing JS Bach’s St. John Passion at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church.  This timeless work is part of the church’s Good Friday evening service at 7 p.m. and reflects the way the work would have been experienced in Leipzig during the time of Johann Sebastian Bach.

Performed in its entirety, Bach’s St. John Passion is one of the most profound and dramatic works in the choral repertoire, combining powerful storytelling with deeply expressive music. The performance will feature the Annapolis Chorale Chamber Chorus, St. Anne’s Choir, members of the Annapolis Chamber Orchestra, and a distinguished group of soloists under the direction of J. Ernest Green.

Featured soloists are Emily Casey, Melanie Regan, Joe Regan (arias), Oliver Mercer (Evangelist), Jeffrey Gates (Jesus), and Spencer Adamson (Peter, Pilate).

This presentation is offered free of charge as our gift to the community for Holy Week. No tickets are required; however, attendees are encouraged to arrive early, as seating fills quickly each year.

Live Arts Maryland’s annual presentation of the St. John Passion has become a meaningful tradition for the Annapolis community, offering audiences the opportunity to experience this extraordinary work in a setting that reflects its original liturgical context.
