The Lasting Impact of Winter Relief Supporters

Read this latest report from the Arundel House of Hope:

During the 2024–2025 season, Winter Relief sheltered 100 people for 4,168 bed nights. Without Winter Relief, the county would experience a critical lack of shelter space during the harshest months of the year.

Our faith partners are the backbone of Winter Relief. They support the program in a variety of ways. Many host the Winter Relief shelter in their buildings for one or more weeks each winter. Others co-host with nearby congregations, sharing volunteers, resources, and the workload. Coordinators attend monthly meetings to learn how to run effective host sites, stay informed about community resources, and share their experiences with fellow coordinators and recruit volunteers to staff the shelter during their assigned week.

Many faith communities also provide financial support and host fundraisers to benefit Winter Relief. For example, St. Anne's Episcopal Church held a Christmas card sale this past year to benefit Winter Relief, raising $3,600—funds that will help supply new cots and assist with guest transportation next season.

We are deeply grateful for the compassion, time, and resources our faith partners pour into this work.
