Wisdom Literature - Summer Adult Forum Continues July 26
"Wisdom literature" generally consists of the books of Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Job in the Old Testament. Other books of wisdom are included in the Apocrypha of the Catholic bible. Following the curriculum of the free online resource provided by the Yale Divinity School, we will do a thematic study of the three books of wisdom this summer with the aim of understanding and applying their "instructions" on how to live a good life. We hope you will join us at the back of the sanctuary on Sundays from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to discuss these important topics. Summer Adult Forum is a lay-led discussion-based group. We rotate facilitators each week and seek to have a balanced, thoughtful, open exchange of ideas and perspectives on how to live a life honoring God, ourselves, and others.
At last week’s Sunday Adult Forum, the group discussed Wisdom and Women. Hugh Reese shared the following prayer that he uses when he prays for wisdom. We appreciate this St. Anne’s community, which is bounded by prayer. Thank you Hugh!
Prayer for Wisdom
Wisdom is brilliant; she never fades. By those who love her, she is easily seen; by those who seek her, she is readily found. She is a breath of God's power, an image of God's goodness, the eternal light and mirror of God's glory. Now let Wisdom do all things, renew all things, and pass into holy souls everywhere to make them friends of God. Amen
