Women in the New Testament: Controversy, Equality and Inspiration
St. Anne’s Women’s Bible Study Women in the New Testament: Controversy, Equality and Inspiration
The St. Anne's Women's Bible Study is resuming with a new fall series! Over the course of six sessions, we will examine various women's encounters with Jesus, Paul's controversial texts about women, and Paul's writings about equality in Christ. There will be groups meeting on Wednesday afternoon (1-2:30 PM) or Saturday morning (10-11:30 AM). Both sessions will be using the same study guide. The Wednesday meeting will begin on August 27 and continue every other week until November 5. The Saturday meeting will begin August 23 and continue every other week until November 1. Each session is self-contained so that you can attend some sessions even if you can’t make all of them. Both groups will meet in private homes in Heritage Harbour.
For each of the sessions there will be a topic and related Bible passages. Prior to the meeting each participant reads the Bible passages and comes prepared with a short (under 300 words) paragraph on the passage as well as a question/thought. At the beginning of the meeting we go around the room and everyone shares their writing. We then use our questions/ thoughts as the starting point for our discussions. If you would like more information and/or sign up to participate and receive a study guide, please contact Judy Guy, judy.guy@gmail.com.
