St. Anne’s MEPPN Team/Join us for Social Justice Day on Sept 27

Dear St Anne's Family

Susan Allen, Phil Reynolds and I are all members of a group that is centered in the Diocese of Maryland called MEPPN.

It stands for Maryland Episcopal Public Policy Network.

During the Legislative Session from January 14- April 13, we will be working to evaluate bills as they come in. Some we will support, some we just leave and others we will work to have them defeated.

We feel that it is important work and would like to share our thoughts with you and would appreciate your thoughts in return.

Fr. Manoj is very supportive of our efforts, we will have several opportunities to meet with the larger MEPPN group beginning with our Social Advocacy Day at St. Anne's on Saturday, September 27.

Everyone is invited to learn and to share thoughts and ideas.

As Fr. Manoj has said, "this is a non-partisan endeavor about living our faith based on the values of the Gospel."

It is wonderful to have such great support from our clergy. Many of these legislative days occur right in our home at St Anne's and the Parish House. We are so lucky to be in such close proximity to the State offices. You are welcome to any that are of interest.

St. Anne’s will be focusing on areas of interest that align with our ministries. With guidance from Fr. Manoj+, our areas of focus at St. Anne’s will be: education (all), environment (Phil), health (Lynn), and housing (Susan).

Learn more about the Maryland General Assembly here.

You'll find loads of information on how to navigate the site, information on bills, members and so much more.

Wander through the site when you can. Easy now without all of the action that will start in January!

Over the next few weeks, we'll introduce ourselves and our interests in our focus areas and why we are drawn to those groups. We will share information we have and hope that you will have ideas to give back to us. Join in however you feel comfortable if you can.

We invite you to sign up for our advocacy updates email list. During the legislative session (January - April), we will share updates about specific bills in the 4 areas of interest and invite you to participate with us. Sign up for the advocacy updates email list here.

I will look forward to sharing information and as I stated, I look forward to sharing opinions. Please join us on our journey of learning and how we can use our voices for God's work.

All voices are important and worthwhile. We all need to be heard.

Thank you

Lynn Mortoro
