A Cup of Cold Water: Tangible Signs of God’s Love and Care
Fr. Dion blesses the crosses and A Cup of Cold Water cards as Janice Jobson and Howard Buskirk join in this moment of prayer for this pastoral care ministry.
St. Anne's A Cup of Cold Water ministry is a living example of Christ's call to love and serve one another. Through acts of pastoral care and compassionate support, this ministry offers practical help and encouragement to all who worship at St. Anne's.
Whether it's providing a listening ear during a difficult season, delivering a meal while someone recovers from illness or surgery, or offering transportation to church, A Cup of Cold Water reminds us that no one walks alone.
This week during our Healing Eucharist service, Fr. Dion blessed a new set of crosses and A Cup of Cold Water ministry cards, lovingly prepared and packaged by Janice Jobson and her dedicated team. The crosses are carved from olive wood harvested from olive trees near Bethlehem, serving as a beautiful reminder of Christ's presence and peace.
The ministry cards share the mission of A Cup of Cold Water and highlight the various ways this ministry supports pastoral care within our parish community.
We give thanks for Fr. Dion's prayers of blessing and for the faithful volunteers whose acts of kindness bring God's love to life at St. Anne's each day. Their ministry reflects the heart of our parish: caring for one another through prayer, compassion, and service.
As the Psalmist reminds us:
"Out of the depths have I called to you, O LORD;
LORD, hear my voice; let your ears consider well the voice of my supplication."
— Psalm 130:1
May we continue to answer God's call by caring for one another in times of need.
