Bach Birthday Concert March 21st

Please join us in the Sanctuary on March 21st at 7:30 p.m. for a special concert in celebration of J.S. Bach's 341st birthday featuring the world-renowned flutist, Mimi Stillman! With members of the Annapolis Chamber Orchestra and under the direction of our own music director, Ernie Green, the ensemble will play J.S. Bach’s Orchestral Suite in B minor, BWV 1067, his Keyboard Concerto in F Major, BWV 1057 (after Brandenburg Concerto #4), and Vivaldi’s flute concerto “La Notte” (The Night) in G minor. In the perfect acoustics of St. Anne’s, the planned program of music will soar.

More on Mimi Stillman: At age 12, Ms. Stillman was the youngest wind player ever admitted to the Curtis Institute of Music, where she studied with the legendary Julius Baker and Jeffrey Khaner and earned her Bachelor of Music degree. She was also the youngest flutist to win the Young Concert Artists International Auditions and Astral Artists.  She is the founder of the Dolce Suono Ensemble, an ensemble based in Philadelphia.   As a soloist, Ms. Stillman has performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra and Orquesta Sinfónica de Yucatán; given recitals at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and Verbier Festival (Switzerland), and taught masterclasses for the National Flute Association, Eastman School of Music, École Normale de Musique de Paris, universities and conservatories throughout the United States, Europe, and Latin America.

In addition to her many performances, Ms. Stillman is also a published author on music and history, a composer and arranger, and a Yamaha Performing Artist and Clinician.  She holds a master’s degree in history from the University of Pennsylvania and is the artist-in-residence on faculty at Temple University’s Boyer College of Music and Dance.  She is also the host of the livestream show, “Tea with Mimi.”
