Clergy Epistle
Beloved in Christ,
One of the most sacred—and yet often unseen—ministries in the life of the Church is the work of the Altar Guild. Week after week, before the first words of the liturgy are spoken or the first notes of the opening hymn are played, faithful hands have been steadily preparing the holy table—laying linens, polishing vessels, and ensuring that the beauty of holiness is made visible. Their quiet devotion allows the parish to enter worship with reverence and joy, confident that all has been made ready for the celebration of the Word and the Blessed Sacrament.
For many years, Judy Olson has embodied that devotion through her leadership as Co-Chair of the Altar Guild. Her attentiveness to detail, deep reverence for the Eucharist, and steady encouragement of others have shaped this ministry into a true offering of love. On behalf of the clergy, staff, and congregation, I offer Judy my heartfelt thanks for her years of dedicated and graceful service.
While Judy is stepping down from her role as Co-Chair, I am grateful that she will remain an active member of the Altar Guild and continue to share her gifts of organization and hospitality through her leadership in A Cup of Cold Water, our pastoral care ministry. Her continuing presence reminds us that Christian service takes many forms, all rooted in the same desire to love God and neighbor.
I am also delighted to announce that Janice Jobson will join Allison Hyland as the new Co-Chair of the Altar Guild. Janice brings a deep love for liturgy, a collaborative spirit, and a warm pastoral heart. Together, Janice and Allison will guide the Guild with both continuity and creativity as we continue to uphold the beauty, dignity, and order that make St. Anne’s worship life so meaningful.
Please join me in offering gratitude to Judy for her years of faithful leadership and in welcoming Janice to this new season of service. May God, who is worshiped in the splendor of holiness, bless all who serve at the altar with joy and peace.
