Festive Worship Service
Celebrate the Freiburger organ’s contribution to worship with:
The last Church Sonata for organ written by Amadeus Mozart. This work was intended to be played between the Gloria and the Creed of Mozart’s Missa Brevis (“Missa Solemnis”) in C major, K. 337.
The anthem of the day: Gabriel Fauré’s exquisite “Cantique de Jean Racine”, written in 1865 for full choir with organ accompaniment (and including string parts that were later added).
“Sinfonia” by J.S. Bach, one of the elaborate opening movements for organ and orchestra that Bach added to several of his church cantatas in 1728/1729.
Opening movement to Cantata 188, Ich habe meine Zuversicht (“I have placed my confidence in faithful God”) which Bach later adapted as the third movement of his harpsichord concerto in D minor (BWV 1052).
Our service will also include festive hymns and feature guest musicians joining our choir and organist, Larry Molinaro, under the direction of Music Director, J. Ernest Green.
All are welcome and invited to experience the beauty of sacred music at St. Anne’s.
